Resume: Team Members: Mohit Juneja
Skills: Outspoken, extrovert, doesn’t micromanage, possesses key tools to deliver messages to a wide group of people; has done multiple projects already on Flash, Photoshop, I-Movie, Illustrator.
Overview:
It is estimated that almost a fifth, (21% to be exact) of Canadians above the age of 15 smoke. This is a shocking statistic that has prompted our team to act straightaway and address this issue. It is further estimated that 45,000 Canadians die annually as a result of these ‘cancer sticks.’ The project that we are going to be embarking on is one that is on a grand scale with the intention of changing these statistics once and for all. Cigarettes seriously harm the health of the members of every community, and there are many that have suffered personal losses as a result of cigarettes. Cigarettes, for many unfortunate people result in a slow and painful death and spend their later y years ridden with diseases and ailments. To be more specific: 1.Nicotine, that is the principle drug in cigarettes, is one of the most potent poisons known to mankind. What happens is that once one inhales cigarette smoke, the oxygen is replaced by Carbon Monoxide (which is toxic for the human body). 2.Red Blood cells, that are responsible for transporting oxygen in the human body get killed, and this causes respiratory problems for smokers 3.Teeth slowly corrode and the mouth in general gets heavily stained as a result of smoking 4.Cigarettes can kill in many ways; heart attacks, strokes, cancer just to name a few.
Goal:
We recognize the various side effects and harm that cigarette smokers experience. We understand that the success rates for completely giving up smoking amongst smokers is under 8% and that many programs have tried, but to no avail to help smokers quit. Therefore, we want to promote smokeless cigarettes by proliferating them in the market in order for smokers to get the sensation of smoking, but at the same time, not having to deal with the majority of the side effects. This is relevant to our society because of all the deaths that cigarettes cause and how it is very easy for younger children (especially adolescents) to acquire the habit as they are the most impressionable. Audience:
Our audience, obviously, comprises of smokers from all walks of life. However, we feel that it is children under the age of 18 that are the most impressionable. Furthermore, there are many smokers that start smoking in university and therefore, our target group is mostly young smokers; people between the age of 18-25 in particular. If one can overcome this stage without getting hooked on to cigarettes, then the changes of them prolonging the habit are lesser.
Key Message:
Smoking cigarettes kill, but smokeless cigarettes kill less! It’s hard to quit cigarettes, but smokeless cigarettes can help one reach that goal in a permanent way, without the withdrawal symptoms.
Content Planning: 1.Intensive research on success rates in the long for quitting amongst smokers who resort to smokeless cigarettes 2.Promoting companies that produce smokeless cigarettes on a nationwide scale
Medium of Expression: 1.Campaigns and seminars will be organized (free of cost) at universities and colleges in Ontario that will discuss the benefits of smokeless cigarettes 2.Ads and flyers will be posed in the aforementioned universities and colleges promoting smokeless cigarettes. 3.A podcast will also be createdand broadcasted depicting the ills of cigarettes and how smokeless cigarettes is better.
